Holiday Camp COVID-19 FAQ

Questions you may have:

1. What activities will my children be doing?

Activities at our camps will remain fun and engaging. In line with current government guidance, any tag or competitive invasion type games (e.g. football matches) will not be permitted. All of our activities will be delivered with no or limited equipment. Examples include but aren’t limited to: athletics, tri-golf, tennis, cricket, dance and general ball skill practices. Our team will ensure good cleaning practice is in place and follow our new procedures for every session that is delivered.

2. How do I know my child will be safe?

As a company that has worked in a number of school settings during this pandemic and also as an Ofsted registered childcare provider, we are used to following and implementing stringent policies and procedures. Our existing camp policies and procedures have been reviewed and updated to include COVID-19 practices. Our team members will complete all necessary training (see point 11) prior to the summer holidays and current government guidelines will be adhered to. Good cleaning practices will be encouraged throughout the day and children will remain in their bubble with the same coach across a full week. We will also stagger registration and sign-out periods to mitigate risk for you and your child.

3. Why aren’t all the programmes running?

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attending, we will not be running all our activities at camp. We have worked with our venues to ensure your child will be safe and have planned to use the facilities in line with the current capacity that we deem to be safe at each venue. As a result, we will run our SkillZone football camp at selected venues as well as our ever-popular Funsport multi-sports camp which includes activities for children of all ages, interests and abilities.

4. Will siblings be split up?

We have planned to operate in line with current government guidance to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection. This means that children from the same household will NOT be split up. Children from the same household will be kept in the same bubble during the week, regardless of their age. Activities delivered to each bubble will be adapted to match the ability of each child in the bubble.

5. Can my children switch bubbles?

If the Camp week hasn’t started and there is capacity, we MAY be able to let you switch bubbles. However, we expect each camp to be at full capacity and, as we are operating under strict guidance and your safety is our priority, we will not permit the switching of bubbles in this scenario. If you would like your child to be with a friend, please get in touch with us directly, we cannot share the booking details of other customers with you.

6. Why aren’t all Pleiades’ normal camp venues open?

We have been communicating with every one of our venues since the pandemic started. Due to the operational guidance issued by government, some venues are unable to open. Pleiades Leisure are working with every open venue to ensure that your children will be safe and that the risk of COVID-19 infection is minimal.

7. Why are you running shortened days?

All camps will be operating under slightly shorter days to allow registration and pick-up times to be managed safely. Our venues will be open under full-week, and 3 consecutive day bookings only i.e. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday etc. Each bubble will be asked to sign in and sign out at 20-minute intervals.

Bubble sign in and out times are as follows:

5-6 year olds 8:30am - 3:30pm

7-8 year olds 8:50am - 3:50pm

9+ year olds 9:10am - 4:10pm

8. What happens if someone demonstrates COVID-19 symptoms at one of our camps?

A child displaying COVID-19 symptoms will be removed from their bubble and put into an isolation room until they can be collected by their parent, guardian, or carer. You will be instructed to follow government guidelines for anyone who is suspected to have COVID-19. This currently involves you and your household self isolating and arranging a COVID-19 test as soon as possible. Remain in isolation until you receive your test results. If the test is negative, you can come out of isolation and return to camp. If the test is positive, you must remain in isolation until fourteen days have passed and inform us immediately. In this scenario, we will issue credit to your account in line with our terms and conditions.

9. How will the sign in/out process work?

Signing your child in and out of camp will be slightly different at camp. All children will have their temperature checked on arrival with a touch free thermometer. Any child showing a temperature over 37.8o will not be permitted to attend. We will contact you to confirm what bubble your child is in and what time to arrive however a guide is above. Sign in/out will be outside where possible however, this is of course dependant on the British weather!

10. What additional training have the Pleiades team members had?

You can rest assured that all Pleiades Leisure team members have completed the necessary COVID-19 training. This includes a full CPD day in which our staff were informed of the new and updated policies and procedures, registration, and sign-out procedure, delivering relevant sports and activities, COVID-19 protocol and more. Most importantly, our team will continue to ensure that your child feels safe and has fun at camp.
